Step 1: Determine the active inputs/outputs
The inputs are the colored pipe elements arranged vertically on the left of the pipe grid; the outputs are the colored pipe elements arranged vertically on the right of the pipe grid.
Determine which inputs and outputs are active using the worksheet below. An input/output is active if there are more conditions "for" it than "against" it.
Red Input: Active
For: Serial # contains a '1'
For: RJ45 ports = 1
Against: Any duplicate ports
Against: Any duplicate Serial # characters
Yellow Input: Active
For: Serial # contains a '2'
For: RCA ports > 0
Against: No duplicate ports
Against: Serial # contains a '1' or an 'L'
Green Input: Active
For: Serial # contains > 2 numbers
For: DVI-D ports > 0
Against: Red Input is inactive
Against: Yellow Input is inactive
Blue Input: Active
If all other inputs are inactive, this one is active.
For: Unique port types > 3

Step 2: Connect the active inputs/outputs
The defuser must create a single closed pipe path connecting ONLY the active inputs and outputs, then press Check. Pipe pieces can only be rotated, which is done 90 degrees at a time by clicking them.
A closed pipe path is one where every pipe along the path is connected to another, such that no pipe has any unconnected opening. Loops and extraneous pipes along the path are fine, as long as they don't connect to an inactive input/output. Pipes with openings facing the border of the module, except when facing inputs/outputs, are considered unconnected. Not every single pipe piece on the grid needs to be used necessarily, as long as water flowing from the active inputs would not theoretically spill when travelling to the active outputs.
